FANTASY BOARD GAME X METAL MUSIC

Book of Skulls: Slayers of Eragoth is a dungeon-crawling adventure board game where two teams battle against each other to save the continent of Eragoth.

 

In their teams, players take turns as both the heroic Slayers of Eragoth and the Demons that oppose them as they attempt to stop the other team's Slayers from clearing the Overworld and defeating the final Boss.

 

Replay value and combat is at the heart of Book of Skulls. During your adventure, you will have access to over 150 unique characters, each with their own movesets.

 

Set the Overworld using 10 interchangeable modular maps (levels) that each represent a unique region of Eragoth. A different adventure awaits with each game as any number of levels can be selected and placed in any order, allowing you to customise the duration of your game.

 

Book of Skulls is fully soundtracked with an original Metal score, controlled via the Book of Skulls App, which perfectly sets the mood when battling against the Demons of Eragoth.

An epic story awaits, you will find yourself during Eragoth’s Fifth Age as the Skeleton Witch attempts to release a portal to the sealed Necrogate and harness the power of the Demon God, Oblivion.

HOW TO PLAY (Overview)

PLAYERS (2-4 Players in teams)

Teams act as the others’ opponents, whilst one team controls the heroic Slayers of Eragoth, the opposing team will control the Demons they encounter until it is time to switch to their own Slayers. Each team has a minimum of 2 "Turns" on the Overworld as their Slayers before switching from their Slayers to Demons, this continues throughout the campaign. 

NAVIGATION

Players navigate across their chosen maps using a dice roll. After moving, players draw an Event Card, this determines what happens in addition to any Landmarks landed on. Each Region of Eragoth has its own map, each with their own paths, story, and unique additional mechanics/objectives.

BATTLE

Whilst on the Overworld, the team that is currently controlling the Demons summon them into battle using a "currency" that they earn from defeating Demons whilst they are controlling their Slayers. Slayers will also encounter Boss battles, these are pre-set in the Eragoth manual.

The battle system is turn-based with one team completing their round of combat before the other moves. Between Slayers and Demons, there are over 300 moves! 

 

Slayers typically excel at certain roles e.g. Healer or Tan. Each Slayer has 4 unique Arts (moves), an Ability and a upgrade item to collect. In addition, whilst controlling their Slayers, players build up bonuses and will aim to unlock a much stronger Slayer called a Guardian,

this is achieved by unlocking Spirits during  battle.

WHO ARE THE BARDS OF FIRE?

The Bards of Fire are Eragoth’s most celebrated travelling musicians. 

 

The group tours across Eragoth performing their music for king and common man alike, their music captures the essence and power of defending this land from the Skeleton Witch and his Demon Horde. 

 

Although their music is largely instrumental, they occasionally invite singers to accompany them.

SOUNDTRACK

Book of Skulls comes with a full original soundtrack written and recorded by the game’s creator! 

 

By using the accompanying App you will be able to stream music whilst on the Overworld and in battle (as defeating a dragon always feels better when listening to Power Metal!!).

 

The soundtrack features at least 20 battle themes and each level has its own, more ambient, theme. 

 

One of the key inspirations for Book of Skulls is Metal music, everything from Black Metal through to 8 string guitars has influenced its creation, from character move names to the soundtrack itself. 

FROM THE CREATOR (Kickstarter update)

Hi there! My name is Andy and I am the creator of Book of Skulls. 

 

Working on this game has been a wild journey, from what started as a one-time novelty campaign has turned into something that has consumed my life (in a good way). 

 

It has been extremely fulfilling pouring so much creativity into the mechanics, lore, characters, theme and music and the best thing is that this is just the beginning.

 

I have big plans for the series and I hope we can go on this journey together! I really believe in the story, characters & IP and would love for this to grow beyond board games one day.

 

I know Book of Skulls is massive, but I couldn’t tell you how much behind the scenes work is needed in making a game, it really is like an iceberg. I have put hundreds and hundreds of hours into getting to this stage and whatever happens with the Kickstarter I can say that I have truly tried my best (and I guess I have picked up loads of new skills along the way!).

 

As I am still new to the scene, I have been thrilled to find how friendly and supportive the community is. Thank you to everyone who has helped to get Book of Skulls to this point. 

 

I have to also say how unbelievably supportive my wife has been who hasn’t seen me for the last few weeks in the run up to Kickstarter, George for supporting the project since day one and for the incredible efforts in making the App and last but not least, the BW playtesters Peel, Jack and Danny and everyone else who has playtested along the way.

 

So finally (for real this time), I will leave you with saying, if you have backed then a huge and very sincere THANK YOU, if you are undecided, then if you take a chance I can assure you that I am working tirelessly to ensure the game can be the best it can be and if you got this far and are not interested please consider telling someone who might be :).
